Last season, the Alabama-Birmingham football team missed the Conference USA championship game for the first time in four years. This will be the first game for new UAB head coach Bryan Vincent. Vincent was named the interim coach over the summer when six-year head coach Bill Clark retired due to back problems. The Blazers went 9-4 under Clark last season, reaching and winning the Independence Bowl, making tonight's matchup an exciting one.
