Shipshape, a former Techstars company with a Birmingham presence, which recently moved into a new space at 2222 Arlington Ave., chose Birmingham for a reason. The move followed a $2 million investment from the growing company, which offers smart home software. Alexander Linn, CEO and founder of the ShipShape, said investing in the space made sense because of the appeal of Birmingham and their recent successes. "Firstly, Birmingham is known as the Iron Valley, home to the iconic Vulcan statue, which symbolizes the city's rich history in metalwork and manufacturing," Linn said.
